This is PennDesign's Wiki....Wiki.Wiki.
PDWiki is a study of network theory within the architectural field. The open-source and open input system of the wiki software allows for an evolving database of architecture and architectural theory; but most importantly it allows for emergent connections between theories and fields that affect architecture. PDWiki was born by connecting theories of small networks (i.e. Artificial neural networks theory, Open-source networks, network effect, and Dell’s Global Production Network) which eventually fostered and evolutionary connectivity between theories contributed by the research of fellow students and faculty. This is the virtual amalgam of architectural theory, diagram-able, and most importantly self-evolving.
Created by a group of architecture students to study an emergent network and the self-evolving nature of a collective intelligence, PDWiki is exactly like Wikipedia (it runs off the same software) where students can add/edit anything and everything. The goal is that over time, our student community will compile an all encompassing repository of ideas, experiences and knowledge that will benefit both present and future PennDesign students. From software tutorials to theory papers, building case studies to studio projects, PDWiki is a place where you are free to contribute to the wealth of knowledge here at Penn.

Wiki Research & Development
For more information regarding the development of this site, read the PDWiki manifesto by co-developer, Ben Muller.
For an essay that addresses Information exchange in virtual space and how the wiki has changed the way we share/exchange information and ideas, read this article by fellow co-developer, Jonathan Kowalkoski.
Here you'll find an essay outlining an emergent aspect of todays online culture that is deeply embeded at the very heart of the wikipedia ideal, that of collective authorship, by co-developer Todd Costain.
How to add to PDWiki
- Before you can add anything you must register with PDWiki
- PDWiki is only accessible while plugged into the UPenn network. If you want access outside of the UPenn network (i.e. at home) then just e-mail bmuller@design.upenn.edu and provide the IP address you would like access from.
Step 01:
Simply input the theory/article/item you want to add into the search box.
Step 02: If your article does not exist there will be a link in red that will say "add this page", click this link.
Step 03: Add your article.
Step 04: Put "[[" before and "]]" after any key words within your article (without the "'s). This will create links to other keywords. If the keyword does not exist then it will be clickable and editable to add another page.
